Development of the Care Plan - Here's What We Do

Carecor offers the following range of services and will design a Care Plan specifically for each individual's needs.

Companionship

Frequently, seniors feel isolated or lonely which negatively affects their quality of life and general health. We can provide individuals, typically trained as Personal Support Workers, to develop a relationship with the client of closeness and trust, all structured around enjoyable activities. These can include telephone conversations, meeting for coffee inside or outside the home, library outings, movies and lunches, or simply spending time together talking and looking over family photos. Anticipating a Carecor "friend" coming by can contribute greatly to the quality of life for a senior living alone.

Personal Care

All of us want to look our best and remain independent in meeting our personal grooming needs. Yet, there may be times following a short hospital stay or as a person ages, when it becomes difficult to perform tasks that have been part of our daily routine. Approached with professionalism and care, our Personal Support Workers will ensure that clients maintain their dignity and "sense of self", assisting them with bathing, hair washing, shaving, oral hygiene and dressing.

Meal Services and Home Management

The daily tasks of maintaining a home can be particularly challenging for elderly individuals. Carecor staff can assist with:

  • Meal Planning and Preparation
  • Grocery Shopping
  • Housecleaning, and
  • Laundry

Having assistance with these tasks can provide families with assurance and peace of mind.

Transportation Services to Appointments

Getting to and from hospital and physician appointments can be challenging. Driving and parking, particularly in bad weather, often means seniors don't get the healthcare they need. Children of seniors sometimes find it difficult getting time off work to accompany a parent. Carecor staff are insured to drive a client's own car or can provide transportation in their own vehicle to accompany a client to an appointment. Following the appointment, if desired, the Carecor staff member will provide a verbal report on the visit to the family.

Nursing and Complex Home Healthcare

There are times when the services of a nurse are required. Carecor employs Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses, currently registered with no restrictions by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Nursing care may be covered by your Extended Healthcare Insurance Plan. Carecor has trained staff, skilled in caring for those with dementia, needing pre- and post-surgical care, living with Parkinson's Disease or Multiple Sclerosis, to name a few. Talk to one of our Care Managers to determine if Nursing services are required. Having complex home healthcare services provided in a home setting may be appropriate.

Respite Care

Being the primary caregiver for a family member brings with it a range of emotions. Anxiety and worry can be lessened if the caregiver receives a break for a day, a weekend or a week. The family caregiver needs to continue with their own life and interests. Let Carecor help out by filling in for the primary caregiver periodically. Everyone needs a break occasionally.
