The Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse working on a medical/surgical unit is reponsible for providing direct patient care in a variety of acute care facility settings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Medication administration
- Intravenous care
- Dressing Care
- Oxygen therapy
- Patient assessment
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be a team player who takes initiative
- Patient assessment skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
- Current knowledge of medication administration
- Computer skills an sset
Experience Required:
- Minimum of one (1) year full-time experience working as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in an acute care medical or surgical setting within the past two (2) years
- Must be able to take last minute shifts and early morning calls
- Able to work weekends
Education and Training:
- Must hold a current CNO RPN or RN registration and be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Must hold a current BCLS -CPR certificate
- Must have a current N95 Respirator Mask Fit testing card
- Communicable disease immunization status must be up to date (e.g., immunizations include MMR, DPT, TB testing, Tepatitis B)
