Job Overview: 

The Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse working on a medical/surgical unit is reponsible for providing direct patient care in a variety of acute care facility settings.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Medication administration
  • Intravenous care
  • Dressing Care
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Patient assessment
Skills and Abilities: 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be a team player who takes initiative
  • Patient assessment skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Current knowledge of medication administration
  • Computer skills an sset
Experience Required: 
  • Minimum of one (1) year full-time experience working as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in an acute care medical or surgical setting within the past two (2) years
  • Must be able to take last minute shifts and early morning calls
  • Able to work weekends
Education and Training: 
  • Must hold a current CNO RPN or RN registration and be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Must hold a current BCLS -CPR certificate
  • Must have a current N95 Respirator Mask Fit testing card
  • Communicable disease immunization status must be up to date (e.g., immunizations include MMR, DPT, TB testing, Tepatitis B)
