Agency Employees - Does Your Agency Charge You a Fee?

There are some Employment and Staffing Agencies which charge applicants a fee in exchange for an offer of employment. Others charge their employees a transaction fee for any shift scheduled for them. Some may take a percentage of your earnings.

Carecor doesn’t! The hourly rate we pay you goes into your pocket. There are no hidden transaction fees or booking fees.

Your agency shouldn’t be deducting from your pay fees for WSIB (the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board). This action is illegal and agencies who deduct these fees from employee wages will be charged by the WSIB. It is up to the employer to pay these premiums, not the employee. To report WSIB fraud and abuse, call 416-344-1000 or Toll Free at 1-800-387-0750.

Carecor is a member of ACSESS, the Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services. Part of membership involves complying with a Code of Ethics and Standards. This Code includes a Fee Prohibition, which reads as follows:

  • “We will derive income only from clients and make no direct or indirect charges to candidates or employees.”

At Carecor, we value our employees greatly and feel that a fee should never be charged to applicants in return for employment or any other services which the company provides to our employees, such as payroll administration, WSIB premiums, etc. It’s one of the things that set us apart from the competition.
